Research, Working and Living

Siemensstadt²

Siemens is building a technology park for € 600 million to accommodate a research and startup hub. This shows the company’s clear commitment to Germany and Berlin as a business and innovation location. We are happy to be part of this innovative and forward-looking location in which we establish and live the entrepreneurial spirit, together with Siemens AG and other partners.

The future project

The future project “Kiez der Macher”

With the opening of the A32, the “Entrepreneurs Forum Berlin Siemensstadt”, the first step into the future of the Berlin district was taken in April 2019. A hall on the site of the Siemens AG Dynamowerk was redesigned. Today it already serves as a place where the entrepreneurial mindset is specifically promoted. A32 acts as an event and co-working space and brings young startups together with the business community.

“With the opening of A32, the Entrepreneurs Forum Berlin Siemensstadt, we are taking a first step towards an integrative ecosystem,” said Siemens board member Cedrik Neike at the opening ceremony.

An ecosystem of working, researching, living, and learning is to be created on the 70-hectare industrial site of the Siemens location in Spandau. The Berlin Senate has assured a modern transport infrastructure and a fast Internet connection to the new hub. The result is a hub of innovation and new creation. The cooperation between business and science plays an important role here.

Since 2017, the Startup Incubator Berlin has been part of this future-oriented location. As the Startup Incubator of the Berlin School of Economics and Law, we not only bring young innovative startups to Siemensstadt², but also connect them to the research, science, and university landscape of Berlin.

HWR Berlin’s special range of subjects in economics, law, social, administrative, and engineering sciences and their integration with the HWR Berlin’s startup incubator at the Siemens industrial site contribute to the establishment of many new startups in the fields of electromobility, urban clean industry, social economy, women in entrepreneurship, and digital solutions for public institutions (GovTech).

The infrastructural and thematic integration with the activities of Siemens AG are strengthened through targeted peer-to-peer learning between trainees, students, scientists, entrepreneurs, and companies.
